MyKost — Boarding House Management (SaaS)
A two-sided SaaS platform for boarding house management — a web admin for owners to run tenants, units, payments, complaints, and reports, plus a mobile app where tenants pay bills, submit complaints, and see announcements.

MyKost is a SaaS platform that replaces manual boarding house management with a single, connected system. Owners get a web admin to manage tenants, locations and units, verify payment proof, handle complaints, publish announcements, and review reports — while tenants use a mobile app to pay monthly bills with a transfer receipt photo, submit complaints, and follow announcements.
The product is live end-to-end. The web admin and mobile app talk to the same REST API, authenticated through Better Auth, with payment data kept consistent in PostgreSQL. On mobile, UI updates ship over-the-air via EAS Update, so tenants get improvements without reinstalling the app.
The Problem
Boarding house management relied on manual records, WhatsApp transfers, and opaque payment status — everything scattered and hard for owners to monitor across locations.
The Solution
One integrated platform where owners verify payments digitally and manage operations in a web admin, while tenants handle their own bills and requests through a mobile app.

Challenges
- Designing a shared data model and API that serves both the web admin and the mobile app
- Handling authentication consistently across web and mobile with session cookies in SecureStore
- Keeping financial payment records accurate, verifiable, and traceable month over month
- Managing a pnpm monorepo with a web app, mobile app, and shared packages
What I Learned
- Building a two-sided product — an operations admin and a tenant-facing app — that share one backend
- Shipping and updating a React Native app in production with over-the-air updates
- Structuring a monorepo so web, mobile, and shared code stay maintainable
